European Commission – JDRF workshop 'Type 1 diabetes research: taking stock and maximising collaboration 23 June2015 Brussels

The European Commission, Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) are jointly organising a workshop on  'Type 1 diabetes research: taking stock and maximising collaboration' in Brussels on  June 23rd 2015. The overall objectives of this workshop are to showcase and raise awareness about benefits, added value and impact of EU and JDRF supported research in the area of type 1 diabetes, explore up-scaling collaborations in areas of common interest, and brainstorm about the possibilities offered by personalized medicine approaches in this area.

 

The meeting will bring together high level experts in this area from the private and public sector, learned societies, patient’s associations and policy makers.

 

The detailed objectives of this workshop are:

 

 To take stock of knowledge and achievements of existing FP7, IMI , JDRF projects on type 1 diabetes

 To identify areas of common interest in order to maximise potential opportunities for future collaboration

 To identify promising areas for developing personalised medicine in type 1 diabetic patients
