ESNC 2016 Competition - " Master Galileo" 2016

Each year, the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) seeks services, products, and business innovations that use satellite navigation in everyday life. In the 2016 edition, prizes will be awarded by some of the most relevant institutional GNSS stakeholders, such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).

 

In addition, >20 partner regions from all over the world host their own regional challenges.

 

The prize pool this year is valued at approximately EUR 1 million, which includes cash awards, business incubation, business coaching, patent consulting, technical support, access to testing facilities, prototype development, publicity, marketing support, and much more.

 

All of the winners will be recognized on stage at a festive Awards Ceremony in autumn 2016.

 

In 2015, the ESNC hit a new all-time record with 515 innovations submitted by entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries. This adds to the success story of the competition and brings its totals to 272 winners awarded, 3,343 ideas submitted, and more than 10,000 participants over the past 12 years. 

Three different prices could be won:

  • A regional Prize - Each 44 countries taking part at the competition, were divided into 24 regions, the candidates submitted their idea to a chosen region, proposal were evaluated and a regional winner was chosen. Registration to the regional price was obligatory. 
  • A Special Prize – Each candidate was could also be nominated to one out of 7 special prices 
  • Master Galileo – All winners of the regional and special prizes were candidates for the Galileo Master’s grand prize of EUR 20,000 and six months incubation in a regional centre of their choice.

Who can participate:

  • Enterprises, scientific institutions, and individuals of legal adult age
  • Candidates can apply to a regional competition and may also apply for a special price
  • The submitted idea for the regional competition can be everything from an early stage idea to an already existing product or service
  • Participants can submit as many ideas as they like, however they can not submit the same idea more than one time
    each submition must be for a different idea

A committee composed of four experts in satellite navigation, on behalf of ISERD, the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy and the Israel Space Agency, will evaluate the different proposals.
